Wii U graphics would need to be scaled back on Xbox 360 and PS3
Trine 2 pushes the Wii U beyond what's possible on current consoles.
The Wii U is capable of displaying Trine 2 expansion Goblin Menace with the graphics as intended, something developer Frozenbyte believes isn't possible on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Speaking of Goblin Menace, included as part of Trine 2: Director's Cut on Wii U, sales and marketing manager Mikael Haveri told NintendoLife: "Basically that does require... well, not huge amounts more graphics processing power, but still considerable. If we would publish that on the other consoles, then I believe that there would be some small downscaling of what it is right now."
Mikael Haveri also explained how quick and easy it was to get Trine 2 up and running in Wii U.
"I think we didn't start really until sometime early in the year still, but the fact was that we had a lot of things going on. Then when we got over the old things, we started with the Wii U and then in two days we had it running," he explained. "We had it running really fast. So it was more about knowing your own tech and then having that 'eureka!' moment of making it work on this new hardware."
Set to launch alongside Wii U on November 30, Trine 2: Director's Cut features the acclaimed original game with numerous enhancements and gameplay polish, the Goblin Menace expansion, plus a new game mode called "Magic Mayhem" designed exclusively for Wii U.

Plus, it's Nintendo, so the important thing is to have all those titles you can't get on other platforms.

I think the first 5 months of the Wii U's launch window alone, is already a better third party line up then the majority of the Wii's entire life cycle. Keeping it up for 4-6 years is what will be the problem though. The nextbox and PS4 will undoubtably have better graphical power then the Wii U. I just think that the gap between Wii U and other next gen consoles, will be much smaller then the gap between the Wii current gen. And with companies designing their engines to be very scalable to cater for the re-emergent PC market and the large user bases of the still active of the current gen consoles as well as the PS4 and Nextbox, this may all work in the Wii U's favour. Well that's what I hope anyway.

I'm sure it'll perform well enough, and won't even explode every five minutes or sound like a jet engine. Which is a bonus. Could do with more games than the Wii though.

They're not saying they feasibly can't make the game look better then the PC version on Wii U, it's just that they don't need to scale back due to limitations, unlike like with the other consoles.
