The trailer for The Legend of Zelda on Wii U was actual gameplay footage taken from a Wii U, series creator Eiji Aonuma has confirmed.

In a Miiverse post, Aonuma confirmed that the footage was indeed gameplay, and not a CG trailer.

“Many people from the media kept asking me if the footage from the new Zelda game for Wii U is just a promotional movie, but that really is actual gameplay on Wii U.”

Aonuma then goes on to confirm the scope of the game’s environment.

“Also, I wasn’t kidding about how you will be able to reach the mountains that appear in the distance if you should choose to!”

The news will add further excitement to an already hotly anticipated game. If the final version of the game does look as it does in the trailer, it could be something very special.

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U is due some time in 2015.
