Bethesda has announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a standalone prequel to last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order heading to PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 5.

Available for £14.99, the game follows BJ Blazkowicz in a two-part mission set within Bavaria in 1946 as he attempts to break into Castle Wolfenstein to steal the co-ordinates to General Deathhead’s compound before heading to the city of Wulfburg to confront a Nazi archaeologist.

“Diving back into the world of Wolfenstein has really been fun for us,” said Jerk Gustafsson, executive producer at MachineGames. “We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons.”

The Old Blood will be available digitally and physically on PS4 and PC, and digital only on Xbox One. The game appears to be skipping a release on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Additional gameplay footage of The Old Blood will be revealed at PAX East this Friday, but if you want an idea of what it looks like in the meantime, take a look at the trailer below.
