Update: After a delay in the availability of the second wave Ultimate Collector’s Edition, the £189.99 set has now sold out in Europe, Square Enix has confirmed.

Original report: Square Enix has apologised for a “technical issue” that has kept fans waiting hours to pre-order a Final Fantasy XV Collector’s Edition.

After selling out last month, an additional 10,000 units of the collector’s edition were supposed to go live on the Square Enix Store at 10am this morning. But they still haven’t been made available to pre-order, and may not be for some time to come.

Tweeting shortly after 10am, Square Enix Europe explained that it was “experiencing some technical difficulties”, asking fans to “please bear with us”. “Sorry about the issues and thanks for your patience – a Malboro attacked our store!” it said two hours later. “We’ll keep you updated as much as possible. For those of you waiting, rest assured that we will try to give everyone a heads up in advance so you can prepare.”

The publisher adds that it doesn’t yet have an ETA for when the pre-orders will finally be available, but that it will provide a 20-30 minute warning ahead of them going live.

Final Fantasy XV’s £189.99 Collector’s Edition includes a 192-page artbook, 26cm figure of lead character Noctis, a Blu-ray containing the tie-in Kingsglaive movie and more. Only 40,000 are to be manufactured worldwide, although the copies included in this new batch are not guaranteed for launch day delivery.

Final Fantasy XV launches on PS4 and Xbox One on September 30.
