Customers who pre-order both Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at GAME by September 16 will receive a Level 20 Legendary Blacksmith Armour Shader for use in Destiny, the retailer has announced.

The shader appears to add a yellowish glow to your armour and can be accessed by redeeming a code supplied when ordering both titles. The offer appears to be available across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

It may also be the first time an in-game bonus has been offered for pre-ordering two unrelated titles.

How would this make destiny sell better? There is only one bonus dlc here and it's for destiny. You only get it if you buy cod as well, this can only improve cod's sales, it does nothing for destiny.

didnt EA do something like this for preordering both ME:3 and Dragon Age 2? I can't remember if it was for preordering but there were definitely bonuses unlocked in one game by owning the other

I think it's because CoD pre-order figures aren't doing as well as they expected.

Seems like they're taking a gamble by assuming that the people who play CoD, have all jumped ship and look set to stick with destiny.

At least they picked a garish colour scheme, reducing its desirability somewhat...

"The first pre-order bonus for ordering two different titles?"

The closest I can think of is when you played the demos for Mass Effect 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and that unlocked loot for you in the other game. Activision is next-levelling the crossover promotion I guess...

I can't work out whether this is to improve the sales of Destiny or because they think COD is getting too old and people might not want to buy yet another one.

The truth is probably, and very sadly, that they want Destiny to sell better. There are still so many people out there that will pre-order a new COD as soon as it's announced.
