Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is expected to sell at least 10 million units, Ubisoft has revealed.

The figure pins Black Flag below last year’s Assassin’s Creed 3, which sold 12.5 million units during its first six months on sale.

Despite the lower sales prediction, though, Ubisoft still expects Assassin’s Creed 4 to be “among the highest performers of the year”.

“We expect Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to be a highly-rated game,” said CEO Yves Guillemot during a conference call last night. “Previews have been very positive and the title will again be among the highest performers of the year. We are very confident with the performance of Assassin’s Creed 4 and the numbers we have in our model, it is going to be key for the launch of the new consoles this Christmas.”

Ubisoft announced yesterday that it had brought forward the release of Assassin’s Creed 4 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, moving the UK launch up to October 29.

Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and PC versions will follow on November 22.
