Will use the tried and tested disc-based copy protection and a serial key.
The Sims series executive producer Rod Humble has revealed EA's copy protection plans for The Sims 3, importantly confirming that the game will be released DRM free.
"... we have heard your requests over the past months and here is our plan for The Sims 3.
"The game will have disc-based copy protection – there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed."
Humble added: "We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future."
EA and Maxis suffered the wrath of many an angry gamer because of the strict DRM implemented on Spore. A DRM-free The Sims 3 sounds like a great way of getting gamers back on side.
The Sims 3 is scheduled for release on June 6.

As for your comment "i like that there is no copy protect, all games get pirated anyway, why waste the money?"
I think your missing the point of a game! Not intending to be rude but, why should developers waste their time and money on you to play there game for free? If it wasnt for money in the industry, you sir would not be writing this comment on this game webpage
hope that answers your question by the way :P

if a game is worth buying i will buy it, after renting it from blockbuster or something, or borrowing it from a friend.
