The Xbox One may have received a lot of negative press since its reveal back in May, but it doesn’t appear to have damaged consumer interest in the platform.

Xbox One pre-orders are “trending ahead of Xbox 360 pre-orders” during the same time period, Microsoft said in a post addressing June sales figures.

“Xbox One, which will launch this fall, has already seen impressive pre-order sales as consumers have signed up to be the first to receive the new system,” said Microsoft. “In fact, Xbox One pre-orders are trending ahead of Xbox 360 pre-orders during the same time period.”

The platform holder added that the Xbox One had already sold out at most major US retailers.

Launch sales of the Xbox 360 totalled 326,000 units in North America according to the NDP Group, with the console reported to have sold out of its 300,000 launch units across Europe.

Microsoft has yet to indicate how many Xbox One units it will make available for the system’s launch in November.
