The next-generation Xbox will launch within the next 18 months, according to a new job listing for Microsoft.

The job ad, which surfaced online overnight, details plans to launch new versions of Microsoft's "most significant products" over "the next eighteen months", including a new Xbox.

"Over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface," read the ad.

"This wave of product launches will define the course of the company for years to come and thus provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to refresh and evolve our strategic brands. The Microsoft brand strategy team is looking for passionate, creative, team oriented branding experts to help us lead this transformation."

Microsoft has yet to announce its plans for its next-generation Xbox.

Earlier this week, however, Brian Hall, Microsoft's general manager for Windows, broke silence about the firm's intentions, saying that the recent change in its Hotmail service was "right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox."

Microsoft later said that Hall's comments were "not understood in their intended context".

Numerous developers are thought to have already received devkits for Microsoft's next Xbox, codenamed 'Durango'.

Last month, images of an alleged devkit surfaced online after the owner attempted to sell the unit on a developer forum. Industry sources later claimed the images were legit.
