Metal Gear is getting the movie treatment, Konami revealed at the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event that took place earlier this morning.

The yet to be titled movie is still without a cast or a director, but it will be produced by Avi Arad - former CEO and the founder of Marvel Studios. He left Marvel in 2006, but still works as producer on numerous films based on Marvel properties.

No release date has been given for the movie, but Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima stated that he'd been searching for years to find someone who could do the project properly, and that Arad is that man.

Arad reportedly promised to make a movie that stays faithful to the spirit of Kojima's Metal Gear.

I can't see how this won't disappoint the die hard msg fans really. For a movie think they would have to rework the plot, the choice of solid snake likely to always be contentious and then the arguments it hasn't stayed true to the series.
