Just Add Water, the studio behind the recent Oddworld remakes and HD ports, has offered its services to Hideo Kojima to remake Metal Gear Solid.

In a letter to Mr Kojima, the JAW team writes: "We at Just Add Water feel ideally positioned to do the remake justice for several reasons:

"1. We have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.

"2. Many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.

"3. We really, really want to do it."

The letter continues: "For evidence of our abilities, please check out not only the HD treatment of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, released on PlayStation3, VITA and PC, but the current re-creation of Abe’s Oddysee, titled Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

"We eagerly await your response."

Would you be happy to see MGS remade by JAW, or is there another developer you'd rather see in the hot seat?

'Just Add Water' aren't the only one's eager to remake MGS1, the Game Director on Hitman: Absolution (Tore Blystad) said on Kojima's twitter that "he would love to give it a shot". Looks like a remake of MGS1 could be a thing!

If you never saw it, this was the reveal trailer for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.

Personally, one of the most memorable trailers I've seen.

This is why they can't just give the Playstation version a new lick of paint.
It would have to surpass what TTS already did, and that was a full blown remake in the same vain as the Gamecube version of Resident Evil.

Or if you prefer, a better quality full 30 minute trailer from a special disc.

Wouldn't a remake be a pretty huge workload? these guys sound nice, sure, but a 2d platformer doesn't reall translate to a 3D TPS using the freaking FOX engine. Sure as hell want someone to do it though, and it's always cool when the smaller studios get some love.

Awhhh, I just bought the original on PSN.. :P Still sounds great to me! Such a classic game and these guys seem to have so credible examples of their talent.

This is a tricky one because MGS was already drastically remade as The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube.
A joint effort between Konami and Silicon Knights, who were still a Nintendo 2nd Party at the time. It even contained Nintendo content such as a Gamecube console and statues of Mario and Yoshi in Otacon's office, which seemed fitting for his nerdy nature.

Kojima re-recorded all the voice acting and tweaked a few things about the script to make it fit just a bit better with MGS2.

And that's where we are stuck. Kojimi prefers the Twin Snakes over the actual original, but it's snagged up a bit with Nintendo.
That's one of the reasons why the original Playstation version wasn't in the HD collection.
