Pokemon Go has already generated $14.04m in revenue since launching last week, according to a new report by digital analysts SuperData.

The figure puts Pokemon Go ahead of Pokemon Shuffle Mobile, which is estimated to have earned $14.03m since launching in August 2015, and over 10x ahead of Miitomo, which SuperData estimates to have earned $115,000.

“Pokémon GO! doing so well initially should not be a surprise,” says SuperData. “It is one of the most enduring and widely popular game franchises in the world. It has produced no fewer than 18 full feature films, a cartoon series, trading card games, and a slew of swag. More so, even though Pokémon is operated independently, it is part of the Nintendo empire, which saw a similar consumer response with Miitomi. It is hard to underestimate the strength of this Japanese giant and its assets, even if contenders have emerged in the last few years.”

Pokemon Go took the world by storm following its release in the US last week, when it shot straight to the top of the iTunes Charts. It isn’t yet out in the UK, however, with developer Niantic forced to put the game’s international release on pause while it resolves issues with the game’s servers.

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality mobile game that sees players exploring their real world surroundings to catch Pokemon.
