i've played PES since it was ISS on Nintendo SNES,( I know showing my age!), and PES 09 is shaping up to be best yet. PES 08 was complete trash but still better than fifa 09 in gameplay terms. After all its gameplay that counts. Konami do need to get they're act to gether on current players etc though.
well i loved fifa 08 online on my wii (great game no lag and played flawlessly) but now we are talking about ps3 i purchased pes09 from asda £27 a steal i played both fifa demo and pes demo and was hooked into the fifa09 online 20 players but spent a few hours on both and fifa while the visuals where better it felt like all fifa games like i,m not fully in control. In my opinion pes is better not played online yet will be interesting (i hate the konomi id thing couldnt register in last night was doing my head in) will try again soon (bring back sensible soccer classic footy on the Amiga lol
Glad to see all the PRO knockers out in droves again..............................
When i first played pro on the ps1 i got hammered by a better player and i had to practice practice practice and then, a year later i went back for the rematch......HE BATTERED ME AGAIN......so back to the drawing board. I played it constantly (along with ISS PRO) and eventually became a master (which i remain). I can pick up FIFA 09 and play it and batter people as i could when the SHIT 94 version came out and which has been followed up with year after year of players with hunched shoulders looking angry and easy, boring, crap control - with TOTAL emphasis on ****ing graphics and commentary!......PRO could have ALAN PARTRIDGE (with would be class) commentating on for all i care. THIS VERSION IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
IF YOU CANT PLAY FOOTBALL and DONT LISTEN TO THE FACTS THAT TRUE FOOTBALL PEOPLE TALK and KNOW ABOUT......go buy fifa
IF YOU CAN PLAY THE GAME AND LOVE REAL FOOTBALL - you know what to do.
I have FIFA 09....and after giving it a good going over in League 1 and several weeks into the season I can honestly say I have tested it in great detail and can now honestly say that you people who are slating it clearly have not tested FIFA 09 properly. Some say "its like playing in mud" what you dont appreciate is that when you pass the ball around and build up momentum the mud starts to stop and you become more fluent and suddenly you are playing good football. Its built this way....read the reviews....The idea is to present realism...if a real team plays rubbish things just get worse and worse, teams get stuck playing slow rubbish football...but if that real team starts to put some good passes together..they get confident and get better...just like in FIFA would you believe!!
I played PES 2008 and people are saying 2009 is pretty much the same....if thats true then people who say its realistic football are talking nonsense....its as realistic as watching Barcelona taking on Hereford United every week...Barcelona will ALWAYS look good.
I remember when people said FIFA was unrealistic and always produced goal fests and PES was realistic and you had to work at getting goals and people had a go at FIFA .....now FIFA has become more realistic because you have to work at getting goals and PES are full of unrealistic goal fests and some fan boys are STILL having a go at FIFA...you cant have it both ways....you guys stick to you totally annoying master leagues and London FC's.
And I too remember the days of ISS (know what that is fan boys!?) and that was better than FIFA then...slowley but surely FIFA has taken the crown...and with all its licences so it flippin should.
Hey i'm ronaldo (man utd) and i play real football so take my advice and support fifa all the way konami will always be behind fifa because it simply doesn't have the funds to improve it's game and EA does because they too have made knock-off games and made a lot of money it looks like konami are following thier example and dishing out sh*t to you guys 2 years in a row and you're just pruchasing a copy like ignorant fan boys. My advice don't buy/support konami this year and when they realise they can't rip you guys off with gimmicks - Champions League license- then they'll make the best pes game next year and that's when it will reclaim its crown as the best footy game out there...Peace out!
To enigmatic, as you can see from the other comments, like the guy who is a referee, and myself, who has played at a professional level..........it does feel like real football! That's why I play it! For God's sake, I've played Fifa over and over tring to see what these reviewers are talking about and I don't see. I could care less about leagues, names, stadiums, uniforms, etc, just give me game play. Enig-moron.
I'm Brazilian and love futebol, I live it, I dream about it, I play it, I cheer for it, in fact my world shuts down every time the National team plays or my club side Flamengo plays, I also follow European Futebol.
Soccer in my country is watched via HD TV, Standard TV, a fuzzy Black and White TV (the size of your wallet), or listened to on the radio with the same enthusiasm under any conditions, I love futebol.
At the end of the day I have played both demos for Fifa and PES 2009 in order to compare. For me its all about the gameplay, just as it does not matter how I watch it on an HD TV or hear it on the radio my passion is futebol. PES 2009 has the game play, FIFA still needs to work long hours in that department.
I played incredible games of futebol with no fancy uniforms or cleats, instead barefoot and shirtless. I dont need gloss in my gameplay.
PES can be edited in the matter of 5 minutes via an Option File, which will update transfers, teams names, etc...
Competition is great and I am very happy that PES and Fifa clash so often, consumer benefits from such rivalry unlike American Football Madden series monopoly.
I will buy PES based on the demo I played and the options files already available, I will also rent Fifa to see if the complete game plays different than the demo.
I hope that both Fifa and PES gets better in the future for the better of futebol fans.
The game is somewhat disappointing in the gameplay, but it's still 100 times better than FIFA.
In FIFA there is no realism. It's an arcade with 95% of the goals scored by same players, in exactly the same manner.
To Nomaed - "...in exactly the same manner" and "scored by the same players"......you have NOT played this enough....I have played this, I HAVE played it...sorry did you get that? H A V E played it....and I am capable of scoring even with defenders..thats because I H.A.V.E played it...not just had a dig at FIFA because its...FIFA...I play it like its meant to be played and it just works...if you reading these comments to decide what to buy...take advice from people who have PLAYED it...and thats the FULL game, not just the demo or spent just 5 minutes on it.
There is a very very very good reason why everyone is giving FIFA 9/10 and Pro Evo 7 or 8/10...and you cant accuse reviewers of being biased because every year for the last 4 or 5 they have always sided with Pro Evo
Demetri you like arcade games fair enough you're a casual gamer who picks up the pad and wants to have fun but for those who can actually play football games at a competent level (i.e. not beginner mode) and wants some sense of football then they should play fifa. What i mean is if you've played pro evo 4-5 then you've played all of them they're just being updated each year and i see no progress in terms of graphics i mean pro 09 what has it done on next-gen which it couldn't accomplish on last gens consoles hmm? robotic movement i hear people say...the animation is pathetic and whoever even thinks about saying "who cares about animation" better think twice 'cause of course we care other wise what's the point of next generation consoles if it doesn't live up to what it promised us and why you people buying 360's and ps3's if you don't give a hoot about things like graphics and animation why the **** don't you just stick to your ps2's and xbox's and have ****ing "fun" ****-tards especially that demetri guy who ****ing thinks i'm any guy mouthing off on this site go have your fun then and post comments to make people see sense don't tell them about your in it for the fun 'cause who the **** wants to know what you want i mean who are you. I'll tell you what you are you are officially a fan-boy and as i stated earlier i hate u fan boys!!! (btw i don't pes i never did i just think fifa 09 is worth your hard earned money this year)
Was looking forward to pro evo,got it...what a disappointment! Great review! Pro evo fans have to get over the fact it has become rubbish!try out fifa 09,just trading in pro evo for it..it is way better!fact!the A.I in pro evo is a ****i** joke, they are like a bunch of retar** running around the place!
