No European retailer will ship Grand Theft Auto 5 prior to September 16,Simply Games has revealed to VideoGamer.com.

Responding to concerns of receiving Grand Theft Auto 5 in time for the September 17 release date, Simply Games sad:

"We can confirm 100% that we guarantee to ship your copy(s) of this game on Monday September 16th. Every online retailer in Europe will be shipping this game on that specific date – not any earlier."

The retailer added: "Over 95% of orders shipped using Royal Mail arrive the following day, so we fully expect your order to be with you on Tuesday 17th September – and no other online retailer will be able to improve on that!"

The retailer notes that "over 95% of orders shipped using Royal Mail arrive the following day".

Simply Games' confirmation follows GAME's message to customers earlier this week, stating it will not be shipping the game earlier than September 16.

GTA 5 launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17.

I've spoken again to an Amazon rep just for utter clarification on this matter. He assured me that Amazon will ship the game on the 14th to ensure its arrival on release day. He also stated that they have received no directive from the chiefs to delay shipping until the Monday, and he very much doubts that they will. Amazon haven't become one of the most reputable companies out there by backing themselves into corners. They've promised release-day delivery, and they intend to honour that promise.

So, if you've ordered from Amazon, you most certainly will receive the game on Tuesday and possibly on Monday (if you're lucky).

It can't be two days before. Royal Mail doesn't dispatch on a Sunday. So it's gonna be a Saturday dispatch, which means there's a good chance of getting it on the Monday.

Hope that's the case for most retailers.

Here is the reply I receive form Tesco Direct when I asked the question earlier today as to when the game will be shipped

"Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply and I can confirm that your order will be despatched 2-3 days before the release date and it'll be sent out by Royal Mail

Please let me know if we can be of any further assistance.

L**** - Customer Care"

I have blanked out the name in case I get anyone in the ***** lol

Hopefully I will be getting this game on the Monday if this is true - woo hoo!

Did they say that YOU would have to upgrade, or that THEY would? Seems if they want to meet their quota of day releases, most retailers will have to upgrade postal orders to express to ensure their high percentage of on-time deliveries remains intact. I'm not sure if that leaves them out of pocket (they can't expect to charge someone different price for an item they've pre-ordered months in advance, or not have the game on their doorstep on the day of release as promised) but it sure puts them in a tough position and all because Rockstar doesn't want people to have the game early. I mean, surely if you want to play the game start to finish and not receive any spoilers, it stands to reason that you don't visit YouTube or other Internet sites until you've got the game and can play it without fear. Credit us with some intelligence, please. We've been playing games for decades at this point. I think we know the score by now.

That is, unless I'm missing some other reason for co-ordinated release dates.

I phoned Gamestop and they gave me an answer without saying it.

They said that they would ship the item to arrive on the Tuesday, but probably wouldn't ship the game on the saturday. However, the only way to 'guarantee' my game for launch would be to upgrade shipping to express.

They will have to send it out early so you can get on time, they cannot send it on Monday since you most likely won't get it next day.

I don't see the problem with it either. You can't control everything, and some people are inevitably going to have it before others because of time-zone differences and proximity to retailer outlets. It's rather pointless from Rockstar, because anyone can get it on the Sunday in HMV if they know the guy behind the till. Hell, I'd paid an extra tenner to sweeten the deal if it came to it.

I still don't understand what this is all about. Why is that so Important? I don't see the Problem when some People play it a day or two earlier, or will the World Explode?

Sometimes I too get a Game a Day before Release, sometimes not, and once I even got It a week before Release. And the World still is in One Piece.

I've already spoken to an Amazon rep about this, who informed me that they will ship first-class orders on the Saturday to ensure their arrival for Tuesday. If it's a case that Amazon change this and accede to Rockstar's request (and bear in mind that it is only a request, not a directive) they will promote all first-class shipping to one-day delivery free of charge to once again ensure the game will arrive on the Tuesday.

I don't know the story with any other retailer(s).
