Any visual difference between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 will be “completely negligible”, Rockstar has claimed, reassuring single-format console owners that players can “expect the same great gameplay experience” regardless of which version they pick up.

Discussing the differences between the two versions in a new Q&A, Rockstar explained that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions had been “developed in tandem”.

“Like all of our games, trust that we’re committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360,” said Rockstar, “and we are excited for fans on both platforms to experience Grand Theft Auto V this September.

“We expect any visual differences to be completely negligible.”

There will be some minor differences, however. Though the game requires a mandatory installation on both platforms, the Xbox 360 version will ship on two discs. The PS3 version will ship on a single Blu-ray disc.

And Rockstar hasn’t ruled out the possibility of GTA 5 appearing on Xbox One, PS4 or PC either.

“We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now,” it said.

GTA 5 launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17, 2013.
