Sony has announced plans to launch a series of PS Vita Mega Packs, a range of bundle packs that include an 8GB PS Vita memory card and a variety of downloadable games.

The first Mega Pack, which goes on sale in the UK later this month, will include the 8GB card and a voucher to download 10 games, including LittleBigPlanet Vita, WipEout 2048 and MotorStorm RC.

A price for the pack has yet to be officially announced, but Smyths currently has it listed for £29.99.

If accurate, the bundle would offer a hefty saving over purchasing each title individually. 8GB PS Vita memory cards typically retail for around £30 alone, with each of the included PS Vita games totalling around £73.

More PS Vita Mega Packs will release throughout the year, Sony says, but if you're holding out for one containing Assassin's Creed: Liberation and Call of Duty: Declassified, don't hold your breath: they each seem to be tailored to a younger audience.

"We know from our research that our younger gamers love playing with their PS Vita; exploring all of the device’s unique features while enjoying rich and deep gaming experiences on the top-quality 5-inch OLED touchscreen," says Sony. "Through these findings, we’ve carefully chosen the games that feature in the PS Vita Mega Packs."

The full line-up of games featured in the first PS Vita Mega Pack include:

  • LittleBigPlanet Vita
  • WipEout 2048
  • MotorStorm RC
  • Little Deviants
  • Frobisher Says
  • Ecolibrium
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  • Lemmings
  • Hungry Giraffe
  • The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character

I will finally be subbing to the PSN+ service this month and I'm sorely tempted to get a Vita, too. Those memory card prices, though... They are just so outrageous, I can't just seem to talk myself into getting one.

With deals like this we really need bigger and last but no means least CHEAPER! memory cards, i have a 32gb and a 16gb and there maxed out and its also a real pain switching cards. I really hope things work out for the Vita its trying now but its also up to the consumers who are no doubt already strapped for cash with next gen on the horizon. Maybe the Ps4 will boost sales in the long run if sony's promises are kept and the Vita is made into the ultimate PS4 companion.

That's a clever move. Rather then a straight forward price drop on hardware, they're selling older titles in the library in a convenient package. Most people who own a vita probably own these titles anyway (especially if they have PS plus) so this is a good way to sell more hardware and software at the same time to new customers.

Looks like Sony really are sick of the damn things not selling.

I am tempted to get one, especially as I've got a holiday coming up. Might wait and see what the other bundles offer, hopefully one with Uncharted in.

I've got a few of those games and I still find that tempting.

If the price for the bundle is accurate. I will buy that Vita so fast, just so I can try Persona 4.

That is a quite stunning package! Take into account all the games I also have from PSN Plus, and the Vita is becoming more and more tempting all the time. The problem is, I just don't see it ousting my 3DS as prime console. That's why I'm not in a rush to get one. (I've gone from not wanting one to wanting one at some point.)

All I need is a 64gb card.
