Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had the most successful opening week in the history of the franchise, GFK Chart-Track has revealed, with physical UK sales up 66% on previous best-seller Uncharted 3.

The game leapt straight to the top of this week’s charts, forcing last week’s No.1 Battleborn all the way down to No.12. Actual sales figures for the game have not yet been revealed by Sony, nor is it clear how well it performed digitally or across other parts of the world.

Sony had clearly been expecting Uncharted 4 to be a success, too. Back in March, the platform holder announced that it would be delaying the game by two weeks to “allow for extra manufacturing time”, and ensuring that enough copies would be ready for day one. It also had the largest marketing campaign ever for a first-party PlayStation title.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launched exclusively on PS4 last Tuesday, May 10.
