Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition sold over twice as many copies on PlayStation 4 than Xbox One during its first week on sale, according to figures released by Chart-Track.

69 per cent of copies were sold on PS4, with Xbox One sales accounting for just 31 per cent.

The sales conflict with the original release's week one sales, which saw 50 per cent of copies sold on Xbox 360 and 42 per cent sold on PS3.

The PS4 version of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is widely believed to be superior to the Xbox One version, despite Metacritic scores suggesting otherwise.

As reported earlier this month, the PS4 version runs at twice the frame rate and maintains native 1080p visuals during cutscenes.

The game shot to number one this week.

Not necessarily. Some of the most innovative games over the past few years have been indies, and they definitely don't utilize the full power capacity of each system. More performance just means more graphics, more objects, and more realistic physics simulations. You don't really need any of that to be innovative..

Only if all you care about are graphics, rather than actual gameplay...

Fix me if I'm wrong but more performance = more innovation

I noticed... :p (been reading the forums almost daily, just not really had a chance to post these past few months)

He tended to have one normal post for each troll-y post and I messaged him to warn him off.

He has created another two accounts since the ban, so be on the lookout and just post a quick message in the spam reporting forum.

The main question is: how on earth did he last this long? I'd have banned him day one...

Seem to be plenty of happy customers, just as there were for the PS3 when Xbox 360 multi-platform games looked better.

In fact, the difference between games on Xbox One and PS4 is far less significant than between Xbox 360 and PS3 during the launch period.

The truth is that both consoles are pretty good at playing games and we've only scratched the surface of what they can do. There is absolutely no logical reason why you should be 'for' or 'against' a console other than trying to convince yourself that your money has been well spent, in the same way as some people will make fun of someone different to assure themselves that they are somehow in the right.

I can't believe more people haven't thumbs-up-ed this!

This is a really good point - as I've mentioned (and will mention again to make it clear that I'm no X1 fanboy) I'm a PS4 owner, but the launch exclusives have been pretty lacklustre. The three games I got at launch are all available on X1/last-gen/PC as there weren't any exclusives worth having... it makes buying Tomb Raider an easier decision.

That said, as others have mentioned the fact that it's a higher quality experience on PS4 can't have hurt..

You can't really hide the truth though can you? And the truth is that the PS4 is a more powerful machine, before the machines were released this was being said numerous times by many people on sites like Neogaf but people did not want to listen and thought ''everything would be alright''.
Well everything isn't alright and people buying the xbox ones, burying their heads in the sand are getting exactly what they deserve. It is a weaker machine not built for optimised gaming.
The PS4 will keep being ahead in performance for years to come, because by the numbers it quite simply is much more powerful. Facts my friends, facts that cannot be denied.

Massive loss to the VG community. May he rest in peace.

It's no surprise that it's done better on PS4 - the press surrounding frame rates/better-on-PS4, and Microsoft's reaction to said press, has been pretty brutal.
