Spider-Man’s reveal trailer was actually in-engine gameplay, not a pre-rendered cutscene, Insomniac Games has confirmed.

The impressive demo led to some Twitter users doubting whether the developer would actually be able to achieve that level of fidelity in-game, to which Insomniac assured “it’s gameplay!”

“We just showed gameplay last night,” Insomniac tweeted following the game’s debut. “Trailer was all in game.”

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida later confirmed that all games shown during the platform holder’s E3 conference – including Spider-Man – were running on a standard PS4, not the more powerful PlayStation 4 Neo.

Spider-Man, meanwhile, will be an open-world game set in a “completely original story and universe”, Insomniac confirmed.

Insomniac, of course, is known for releasing impressive-looking games, having previously developed this year’s Ratchet & Clank remake. A release date for Spider-Man has yet to be confirmed.
