Access to today’s Rainbow Six Siege multiplayer beta will be granted in waves, Ubisoft has said, with additional players due to be added each day throughout the test.

That means that even if you’ve pre-ordered the game and secured your key, you may not be given access as soon as the beta goes live later today. Ubisoft has not clarified how many people will be granted access at launch, or how quickly it will ramp up the player count afterwards.

“Players will be granted access in waves to allow us to test server stability so we can optimize the player experience during the Beta,” community developer Chase Straight wrote on the Ubi Blog. “We’ll be adding new people every day, so be sure to check your email regularly. We will still be following your feedback closely to look at ways we can tweak and improve the game, an effort that will continue even once the game is out.”

Ubisoft also warns that players may experience significant connectivity and matchmaking issues throughout the beta, and that players will “have about a 60% chance to start a match successfully”. The success rate falls to 40-50% when queuing to join another game following the completion of a match.

“If you’re not able to join a game under 90 seconds, we recommend you to quit the lobby and try again until you succeed,” Ubi says.

Terrorist Hunt, the PvE co-op multiplayer mode, won’t go live in the beta until tomorrow, September 25, either.

Rainbow Six Siege’s multiplayer beta is due to go live on PS4, Xbox One and PC at around 5pm BST tonight, before coming to a close next Monday, September 28. To gain access you’ll need to have pre-ordered the game or grabbed a beta key online.
