EA has revealed the first details on UFC 2, confirming that UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is to star as the game’s lead cover athlete.

Due for release on PS4 and Xbox One in spring 2016, UFC 2 will introduce a brand new ‘Knockout Physics System’, which EA describes as a “revolutionary new physics-driven hit reaction and knockout system [that] delivers more visceral, more rewarding, and more authentic KOs than ever before”, along with a revamped Career Mode and five new game modes.

UFC Ultimate Team is one of them, allowing players to build a team of five fighters that compete in online and offline competitions, as is KO Mode, which keeps the fight going until someone hits the floor. You can see more details on how both work below.

EA says that UFC 2 will also feature the largest roster of real-world fighters ever included in an MMA game, and the first opportunity for players to create a female fighter in a UFC game.

“EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment,” commented Rousey. “As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it.”

You can find plenty more details over on the game’s official website, but in the meantime take a look below for the first work-in-progress footage.
