Capcom has long-term plan for Deep Down, but is ready to adapt based on player feedback

Capcom is planning years ahead for its free-to-play PS4 action title Deep Down, but all these plans may change if players decide they want something else, the game’s organising producer and senior manager of Consumer Games Development Teruki Miyashita has revealed in a Capcom produced interview.

“Major updates are released regularly under a planned schedule,” explained Miyashita. “We expect for each new update to already be under development by the time we launch a certain service. We’ve drafted a schedule that looks far ahead for several years.”

He continued: “We’re looking at a ten-year span for the online games. For the first three years, we’ll be diving in deeply to see what features are popular among the users. That is to say, if we prepared five plans at the start of the service and two of them gained positive responses from the users, we will further develop those two and reform and transform the other three plans that didn’t work out. Thus we can bring the service closer to what our users want and can enjoy for years to come. Even though we have already planned a schedule for a ten-year-period, we’re always open to modifications.”

Miyashita says he’d “be overjoyed if the users responded to, got excited about, and submitted various comments to our development and management team about our events (laughs). However, it could go either way, but I think the best part of online game development is to keep engaging in these types of interactions all the time.”

As for when the first stage of Deep Down will launch, Miyashita says there is a “rough general schedule, but there’s plenty of room for adjustments depending on the response from our users”.

“We’re not pushing any sort of fixed schedule,” he concluded.
