Xbox One users may have been made to wait for Twitch broadcasting integration, but it appears that once it launches on March 11 Xbox One will finally have a resolution victory over the PS4.

Reddit users analysed Major Nelson's Xbox One broadcast of PvZ Garden Warfare to discover the stream specifications of 1280x720 30 fps, at approximately 2.5 Mbps. This compares very favourably to the PS4's broadcast stream of 960x540 30 fps, at approximately 1.7 Mbps.

Beyond the resolution increase Xbox One Twitch also features broadcast archives, something PS4 users are still without.

The March 11 Xbox One system update will also introduce a host of party functionality enhancements.

On a serious note you'll get hardly any indifference between 2.5mbps and 1.7mbps. The whole conversation is just nonsense really. If a person has a sub 2.5mbps connection they'll struggle with any streaming service even if it was running at 1mbps. Simply because those people will have so much latency issues as their geographical location would mean that they are a long way from their exchange so there are more external factors that will degrade the stream such as packet loss.

It comes down to the streamers upload speed as well not just the viewers download speed. The streamer has to send the infomation to be encoded so the viewre can view the stream. If the stream has bad upload it can cause issues for the viewers too. Sorry I meant <2MB upload, viewer wise this is fine but streamer wise it is bad.

I liked your Pun :D

I know some people with speeds like that and experience major issues with regards to gaming. I just hope that you get bumped up soon on this roll out programs.

I thought that twitch can retroactively lower the stream anyhow so not sure why this would be a problem. Got a shipty connection then you get a shipty stream it's as simple as that.

If you have a sub 2mbps connection your worry will be more than Twitch your games won't work.

The average speed in the uk as of may 2013 is 14mbps overall and 9mbps in rural areas.

I have no idea what it has to do with the price of cheese anyway nobody watches the random streams on twitch!

Resolution means nothing if you can view the stream :P. I can stream at 1080p if I wanted to but this would lead to my viewers having buffering issues and loading issues.

A bulk of viewers will have <2MB and will struggle to load streams so the fact that you can stream 720p means jack.

As I have said in the past if twitch releases twitch.tv on xbox now Twitch will break, it is already breaking under the pressure of TPP.

Another resolution gate? lol. Nobody cares about 99% of the streams that will appear on there. But it should make things a little easier for those streams we do care about.
