Toejam & Earl: Back in the Groove will release on console, developer Humanature Studios has confirmed, after the studio managed to secure additional private funding.

The game had previously only been expected to release on PC after its Kickstarter campaign failed to hit the tiers required for a launch on PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. But while the developer can’t yet confirm which consoles the game will arrive on, it is heading to at least one, the studio says.

“We have a funding partner and we WILL be coming out on consoles but we can’t say who or which ones or when just yet,” the studio said in an update posted on Kickstarter. “In fact, we were going to post some video of the game, but our partner has asked us to wait on that so we can have a big reveal later.”

Instead of releasing video footage, the developer posted brand new screens and details offering an updated look at the game. You can check them all out through here.

Back in the Groove secured $508,637 via its Kickstarter campaign last year, over $100,000 more than its $400,000 goal. It wasn’t quite enough to secure a console release, however, with the developer requesting $600,000 for release on PS4, $700,000 for Xbox One and $800,000 for Wii U.

“Thanks for keepin’ the faith,” the developer concluded. “We’re working hard to bring you the VERY best game that we can.”

A release date for the game has yet to be confirmed.
