The Kinect Star Wars app is now available as a free download for Windows Phone, iOS and Android, Microsoft has announced.

The app aggregates Facebook and Twitter social media streams into a single feed, which is then presented in the style of “the crawl”, the iconic opening sequence of Star Wars.

Stephen McGill, director of Xbox and Entertainment for Microsoft UK, commented: “We are literally putting ‘the Force’ directly into people’s phones to help launch Kinect Star Wars. Fans will be able to carry a piece of the Star Wars universe in their pockets and, like the new game for Xbox 360, immerse themselves in the incredible world of one of the most enduring entertainment franchises like never before.”

Users can also discover more about the Kinect Star Wars game for Xbox 360 and can also purchase the game direct from the app.

Kinect Star Wars might have topped the UK video game chart, but it isn’t actually any good.
