Supercar manufacturer Ultima has revealed that a new racing game from Microsoft – thought to be Forza Horizon 2 – will release later this year.

The leak (spotted by worldsfactory.net) came via an update on the car firm’s official Facebook page, which stated that its relationship with Microsoft was due to continue following the success of Forza Motorsport 4 and Forza Motorsport 5.

“We have also recently agreed a new contract with the Microsoft Corporation to be included in a new video game to be launched later in 2014,” said Ultima. “The Ultima is proving to be very popular and is providing excellent worldwide publicity and recognition for our marque.”

The post has since been removed but is still available to view in Google Cache.

Forza Horizon 2 has long been suspected to be in development at Playground Games.

Last July, studio director Gavin Raeburn revealed that his team was “working on an exciting, unannounced project for Xbox One”, with technical artist Yibo Liu reportedly referencing an “undisclosed next-gen Forza project” on his LinkedIn profile.

A job ad for the developer also described the game as a “visually stunning”, “genre-leading” racer.

Microsoft has yet to announce future plans for its Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon series, and has not publicly announced a racing game due for release this year.
