Dead Space 3 sales were lower than EA had hoped, the publisher confirmed during an overnight earnings call with investors.

In a brief statement on the game and Crysis 3, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said: “Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 came in below our forecast.”

EA made no further mention of either franchise during the call.

The future of the Dead Space franchise remains uncertain. Back in March VideoGamer.com learned that EA had canned the series, although a publisher statement claimed Dead Space remained “an important IP to EA”.

Developer Visceral has also been confirmed as a studio working on the recently acquired Star War license, suggesting the Dead Space franchise may have been retired.
