Criterion is talking to Microsoft about the possibility of making the Xbox 360 version of Burnout Paradise backwards compatible with Xbox One, the developer has said, telling fans to expect “more news soon”.

Burnout Paradise was one of just two core Burnout titles released on Xbox 360, and is one of the few third-party titles confirmed to be in consideration for Xbox One backwards compatibility.

The Xbox 360 versions of Fallout 3, Rainbow Six Vegas and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 are all expected to be supported by the service once it goes live to the public later this year, alongside around 100 other titles.

A limited selection of first-party games are currently available to test out on the Xbox One Preview Program, including Mass Effect, Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata.

Backwards compatibility is due to roll out to all Xbox One users this autumn. Criterion’s next game, which takes Burnout’s spirit beyond cars, is currently undated.
