Battlefield 3 pre-orders are ten times higher than Battlefield: Bad Company 2, publisher EA has confirmed.

EA revealed the fact during its Q1 earnings report for financial year 2012.

Yesterday DICE explained that customers shouldn’t worry about the console version of the game running at 720p.

“We’ve made a conscious decision to stick with 30 FPS on console. It’s not a technical problem with getting our game to run in 60 FPS but we do this in favour of the large amount of players, large scale maps, huge amount of vehicles, full on destruction and so on. The pace in Battlefield is slightly slower than some other twitchy shooters of today which lends itself well to this frame-rate,” said DICE VP and general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson.

Battlefield 3 will be released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on October 28.

Okay… 9 million sales of Bad Company 2, and 10 times the pre-orders for Battlefield 3. Let’s crunch the numbers real hard for a second. My God, that’s like – 90 million copies of Battlefield 3 being sold within the first three hours of launch!

I suppose this news just goes to show that throwing more money than the GDP of most European countries into advertising may increase consumer awareness in your game.
