Overview

At launch, players had access to 15 maps, including the Practice Zone. The first season introduced one new map, and it is expected that we may see further new maps with new seasons in the future.

All maps have design inspirations derived from the following Ubisoft franchises:

  • Tom Clancy's The Division
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
  • Far Cry
  • Watch Dogs
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

Map Types

There are two types of maps in XDefiant:

  • Arena Maps
  • Linear Maps

Both map types have unique approaches to how two teams fight.

Arena Maps

The Arena-type maps are the standard run-of-the-mill locations further subdivided into at least three sections/areas for combat diversity. Depending on the environment, each section/area will represent opportunities to rush, attack, cover, and play offensively or defensively.

There are two spawn areas for two teams. The positions will swap whenever one team gains more momentum than the other one.

Linear Maps

Linear Maps are progressive maps in XDefiant. This map type has a larger area that is subdivided into objectives. When you complete an objective, which could include multiple sub-objectives, a new section becomes available to advance. The spawn areas also shift to the new location after an attacking team has completed objectives. The map's progression continues until the attackers win over all of the objectives or the defenders stop the attackers from progressing further.

Other Maps

Besides the Arena and Linear maps, you can also get access to the Practice Zone, where you will be able to hone your skills, abilities, equipment, and weapons accuracy.
