Overview

Escort is one of the five game modes that were released at launch in XDefiant. This is a linear map-type game mode that lasts two rounds.

In Escort, the objective is to move with Carlos (a four-legged mobile payload) on a fixed path to the final objective destination. The defending team has to stop Carlos from moving by killing the opponents.

To move Carlos, a player from the offensive team has to stay near it. The defenders can kill the opponent to stop the movement of Carlos. If no offensive team member interacts with Carlos for 30 seconds, it will start going backward.

Additionally, the attacking team gets 10 minutes to capture sectors. A bonus time is added to the clock after a sector is captured.

Checkpoints stop Carlos from going back to its starting location. If the attacking team approaches a checkpoint, the defender team cannot make Carlos go backward. With each checkpoint reached, the spawn point of the offensive team shifts forward, and the defending team is pushed backward, relative to the checkpoint location.

The team roles between attackers and defenders switch once the round ends. The attackers become defenders and defenders become attackers in the second round of Escort in XDefiant.

The new attacking team has one win condition: escort Carlos to the point where the previous attacking team ended up in less time than the first attackers.
