How to unlock
To unlock the Charcoal Burning, you will have to purchase it directly. As this is a main development node, you don’t have to unlock any previous nodes. When you get the Charcoal Burning, you will also unlock Deep Mining.
Benefits
As mentioned earlier, the Charcoal Burning development will allow you to unlock the Charcoal Kiln building. With this, you can convert 1 Firewood into 2 Charcoal, which doubles your Fuel production.
As Fuel is needed to survive Winters and to keep running some of the buildings, we recommend you unlock Charcoal Burning as soon as possible.
Further, as mentioned, Charcoal Burning also unlocks the path for the Deep Mining development, which is useful if you want huge quantities of Iron or Clay.
