Best Xbox 360 Games of 2014

In the first full year during which the Xbox 360 had to play second fiddle to a new generation of home consoles there was always going to be a drop in enthusiasm around the platform. However, that doesn’t mean 360 gamers had nothing to play.

In fact the Xbox 360 actually boasts a host of titles which didn’t make it to the next generation systems, including some of the year’s best games. We’re talking about Bandai Namco’s wonderful Dark Souls 2 and Ubisoft’s South Park: The Stick of Truth, both of which are only available on last gen hardware.

Other titles too made clinging onto the older console worthwhile. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 didn’t repeat the success of the original, but did offer a next-gen like spectacle. Elsewhere Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, GRID Autosport, World of Tanks and Ultra Street Fighter IV couldn’t be found on next-gen platforms.

Even in the busy holiday season you’ll find a few old-gen exclusives, such as Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, Take-Two’s Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Codemasters’ F1 2014. Sadly for Xbox 360 owners, 2015 doesn’t look likely to produce as many must-have titles, emphasising the need to make the jump to a new generation system.
