If you’re wondering if Street Fighter 6 has Denuvo or DRM protection – we’re covering everything you need to know here.
To recap, Deunovo is an anti-tamper software used to prevent unauthorised distribution and copying of game files. It works by encrypting vital parts of the game code, making it more difficult for hackers and pirates to remove the DRM protections. Though game developers have every right to protect the intellectual property of their games, the software is controversial. This is because legitimate users can encounter performance issues with the game because of Denuvo.
Because of this, there have been instances of game developers removing Denovo from their games post-launch. We saw this with Resident Evil Village which saw severe stuttering issues. The disabling of Denuvo resulted in a dramatically smoother gaming experience. So understandable, gamers want to know whether Denuvo, or any type of DRM protection is expected with Street Fighter 6.
Does Street Fighter 6 have Denuvo or DRM?
What is disappointing but to be expected, Street Fighter 6 will have Denuvo, as confirmed via Steam days before the game’s launch. This isn’t surprising from Capcom, especially for a big game like Street Fighter 6. This will undoubtedly come as a blow for some fans, especially those who like to mod their games. Though modding isn’t impossible with Denuvo, it can definitely make things more complicated. If you want some hope, Capcom has a decent record for removing Denuvo from their games too. The Resident Evil 3 Remake had its DRM protection removed after just six months of the game which gamers were grateful for.
Will Denuvo affect the performance of Street Fighter 6?
It’s difficult to say if Denuvo will affect the performance of Street Fighter 6. Given the software’s track record for provoking outrage in the PC gaming communities, we can speculate there will be some negative effects of Denuvo. It might come in the form of a lower FPS average, but for now we can’t really say. There is a chance the effect of Denuvo could be significantly less with Street Fighter 6 on account of newer version of Denuvo being used. This, however, is pure speculation.
