If you’re familiar with Nvidia’s line of graphics card, the RX 6950 XT performs at a similar level between GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti.

But how do these specs hold up against AMD’s RX 7900 XTX? The flagship GPU boasts a raw performance of 61 TFLOPS and boasts 8GB more VRAM than the RX 6950 XT. Like it’s cheaper sibling, the graphics card is leading the way with support for DisplayPort 2.1, meaning it supports 4K at 480 Hz, or 8K at up to 165 Hz.

AMD is also claiming 54% improvement on performance compared to the previous generation for performance per watt. Overall, it outperforms the RX 6950 XT on clock rates, and just about everything.

AMD originally set the MSRP of its flagship GPU for under $1000.

It’s still a very competitive price, directly undercutting Nvidia’s RTX 4080 which delivers a similar performance but costs an upwards of $1,500. In practice, the RX 7900 XTX retails for just shy of $1,200.

Comparing it directly to the RX 6950 XT, the older graphics card is selling for under $900 via Amazon at the time of writing. We’re personally massive fans of AMD’s older graphics card, and think it offers fantastic value compared to the RX 7900 XTX.

Is the RX 7900 XTX worth it?

AMD’s RX 7900 XTX is a sound graphics card that often outperforms its competition both in 4K and 1440p benchmarks (we’re looking at the RTX 4080). It’s worth it if you’re looking for a decently priced, high-performance graphics card so long as you’re happy to spend over $1000 for it.
