The main similarities between the 4070 Ti & 4080 other than the same architecture include their shared Ray tracing ability and generation of tensor cores.
One notable difference is VRAM. The 4080 boasts an extra 4GB of VRAM, which means it will process high resolutions at higher speeds than the RTX 4070 Ti. For gaming performance, this translates to a better performance for taxing games which are played in 4K and 8K. In terms of base and boost clock, the 4080 comes out with a marginally lower rating than the 4070 Ti. This translates to a technically higher FPS, though this is so minute that you’re unlikely to notice the difference.
If you’re confused about why the 4070 Ti has a higher boost clock, it’s because its generally lower specs mean it has more of a temperature and power margin to clock higher. This can be seen as an advantage or disadvantage since the 4070 Ti’s lower specs will translate to overall lower running costs because its power supply is less taxing than the 4080.

The prices for the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 have, perhaps surprisingly, stuck fairly closely to their respective MRSPs, making for a better deal for consumers. So what are the differences between the two?
Put simply the RTX 4080 is more expensive, though this should come as no surprise. Not only is it a more powerful card, but the RTX 4070 Ti is essentially just a less powerful version of it. This means you’ll be paying around $1400 depending on which AIB you opt for. We’ve seen prices as low as $1259, and as high as $1659.

The RTX 4070Ti meanwhile rarely goes over $1000, tending to be around $850. Though of course, you are getting less VRAM, fewer CUDA cores and a smaller memory interface for this price.
With all this in mind is hard to separate which card is actually better value. It all depends on how much power and energy efficiency you think you need from your build.
