The PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 15 outsold the Xbox One version by 100,000 units in the UK, according to a new report.

While access to sales figures is usually restricted to companies partnered with Chart-Track, UK newspaper Metro claims to have been told of the sales difference by an “insider”.

“Chart-Track doesn’t reveal actual sales figures, since companies have to pay to access that information and aren’t supposed to make it public. But an insider tells us that the PlayStation 4 version was ahead of the Xbox One by 100,000 units,” says Metro.

“That’s an awful lot considering how much effort Microsoft put in with co-promoting the game with EA, including the Xbox exclusive Ultimate Team Legends mode.”

Figures posted by Metro, however, suggest that Xbox 360 was on par with PS4 sales, with PS4 reportedly accounting for 32 per cent of total sales, Xbox 360 at 30 per cent, Xbox One at 22 per cent and PS3 at 15 per cent.

EA has yet to announce sales figures for the game. However, it was revealed this morning that week one sales were up by 15 per cent over last year’s FIFA 14 due to the simultaneous launch on Xbox One and PS4.

FIFA 15 landed in the UK last Friday shooting straight to the top of the UK charts. Thinking about buying it on your lunch hour? Find out where to pick it up cheapest with our supermarket and high street price roundup.
