Battlefield 4 will release on PlayStation 4, EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen has seemingly confirmed, before claiming that the next-generation version looks “stunning”.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference last night, Jorgensen said (via Polygon) that “between now and E3 you’re going to see a lot of stuff from [EA].

“We’re very excited about Sony’s platform,” he continued. “The technical power on the platform is going to allow us to do a substantial amount of things we’ve never done before.

“I’ve seen the new Battlefield and it is stunning. It is just amazing what the imagination of the game developers are allowed to do with that much power.”

Battlefield 4, which has yet to officially be announced for PlayStation 4, is expected to be released later this year.

However last month, prior to PlayStation 4’s announcement, EA’s senior development director Tim Morten suggested to VideoGamer.com that DICE had already gotten its Frostbite 2 engine running on next-generation consoles.

“The Frostbite engine is constantly evolving and the DICE studio in Stockholm, which develops the underpinnings of the engine, has timed releases,” he said.

“So once or twice a quarter we get updates of the engine, so they [DICE] are already onto next-gen console…”

PlayStation 4 was announced by Sony last week. Microsoft is expected to announce its next-gen Xbox in April.
