Good news for everyone for loved Portal 2’s electronic tuneage: Valve is letting you download the whole soundtrack for free.
“Bolstered by recent breakthroughs in the field of jazz smoothing, Aperture announced today the first of three downloadable aural stimulus packages,” reads the latest post on thinkwithportals.com.
“Whether you’re a mega-science corporation with decades of test experience, or a young start-up liberating your first test subject from non-testing with a chloroform-soaked rag, Aperture guarantees results. Wake up your test subject, open the chamber door, and press play – let Aperture’s patent-pending rhythmic compliance enhancers do the rest.”
The first volume, released yesterday, offers 22 tracks via a 157mb download. Jonathan Coulton’s “Want You Gone” isn’t on the list, but it might show up on one of the other two albums.
You can download Songs To Test By Volume 1 here. The same page also has six tracks cut down and formatted as ringtones for iPhones and Android devices.
It’s always nice when a developer does stuff like this, although it’s still something of a rare event. Portal 2’s moody electronica is definitely worth grabbing, but then you probably know that already. The game’s pretty great too – see what Jamin thought by reading his Portal 2 review.
