The next entry in the long-running real-time strategy series Cossacks will release this September, developer GSC Game World has announced.

Available worldwide from September 20, Cossacks 3 is said to be a remake of the first game, combining the original mechanics with modern 3D visuals and allowing up to 10,000 soldiers to be rendered simultaneously on-screen. 12 nations are included, too, offering up 70 different units as players battle across five single-player campaigns and 8-player multiplayer battles.

“This remake of the classic game, that originally launched in 2000, contains all of the elements that distinguish the successful Cossacks games and combines them with contemporary 3D-graphics,” says GSC Game World.

“Cossacks 3 provides the player with infinite tactical options, including not only the construction of buildings, the production of raw materials, but also the broad selection of various units and the influence of the landscape.”

It’s been quite a while since we saw a game in the series, of course, with the last game, Cossacks 2: Napoleonic Wars, launching way back in 2005. To see what the new game looks like, head through here for some new screens.
