Criterion has “no plans” to bring Burnout Revenge to Xbox One backwards compatibility, despite the studio’s intention to bring open-world follow-up Burnout Paradise to the service.

Responding to a fan on Twitter (spotted by OnlySP) about the possibility of the game being made backwards compatible, Criterion simply stated that it had “no plans for that right now”.

Burnout Revenge was the final game in the car-crashing series to feature closed tracks, before going open-world in Burnout Paradise. It was also one of the first remastered games to arrive on Xbox 360, having initially launched on PS2 and the original Xbox in September 2005.

A date for the backwards compatible version of Burnout Paradise has yet to be confirmed.

Don’t get your hopes up for an HD collection of earlier Burnout titles, either. Back in September, the studio said that such a thing would be a “nice idea”, but that it had “moved on to newer, even better things”.
