HoYoverse remains one of the premier names for sprawling, content-filled gacha games, and that continues to be the case with its latest stylish project, Zenless Zone Zero. Following a successful launch at the beginning of July, it immediately followed up its smash opening day by hitting a massive revenue milestone in less than two weeks.

According to a Pocketgamer report, Zenless Zone Zero generated $52 million in revenue in only 11 days, doubling the $25 million it initially reached in its first five days of operation. Unsurprisingly, players in China and Japan are major sources of the game’s revenue stream, accounting for 47% and 27% of spending, respectively. The rest of the top five comprises three other major countries, with the United States at third, South Korea at fourth, and Thailand rounding out the list.

But despite Zenless Zone Zero’s immediate success, it still pales compared to the heights that its counterparts, Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, reached. Based on additional data from Pocketgamer, the former reached $90.1 million, while the latter hit an even bigger $108.6 million from player spending in the same amount of time. Of course, comparing these free-to-play gacha games is futile because the real winner here is HoYoverse, which has developed and published all three.

A complete opposite to Genshin and HSR in terms of gameplay, Zenless Zone Zero instead opts for linear storytelling and places more focus on combat. This, of course, means it’s a game that’s smaller and more intimate in scale, which may be the main reason for its relative underperformance compared to miHoYo’s other creations. That said, it should continue to perform well now and in the future, especially as the developers prepare to add more content, including new characters, in upcoming patches.
