Ninty has released a new character trailer for Switch brawler Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with Young Link returning to the fray after a lengthy hiatus.

The Hero of Time's diminutive alter-ego hasn't been seen wielding his sword since 2001's Super Smash Bros Melee on the GameCube, although considering every character is included in Ultimate, it's no surprise to see him back in action.

Young Link isn't just a straight copy and paste job of his regular-sized, Ganon-slaying counterpart. He boasts his own unique moveset, and is more agile and nimble than Big Link, but easier to launch as he's far lighter.

Having played a lot of Melee back in the day (admittedly bunking off college in the process), I can verify that Young Link can be quite effective in the right hands. He's a bit like Pikachu; small, yet powerful and hard to hit. Just not as annoying.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is due for release exclusively for Switch on December 7.
