Nintendo Switch Online is just around the corner, but one game you can still play without having to subscribe to the Big N's premium online service is Fortnite.

'Some games, such as Fortnite, can be played online without a Nintendo Switch membership,' reads an FAQ from Nintendo

PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold are required to play Fortnite for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively, although the battle royale version of the game is free-to-play. Speaking of PS4, you can grab an exclusive Celebration Pack now if you fancy some new themed items.

Nintendo Switch Online is due to roll out in the US on September 18 and in the UK on September 19.
