Ackk Studios has super-glued a January 17 release date to the psychedelic romp YIIK: A Postmodern RPG on Steam.

For those who don't know much about the game, YIIK is developed in the style of Japanese RPGs, only it's actually made by an American production team. The game takes place in the 90s, or rather, an incredibly messed up version of the decade that brought us the Mitchell brothers and Take That.

You probably won't find much of that in YIIK though; instead, expect to bump into 'yammering skulls, tortoise samurais, and living stop signs.'

YIIK offers 30-hour campaign that marries platforming, puzzles-solving, and turn-based combat. The story revolves around a chap named Alex, a fresh graduate who witnesses a woman mysteriously vanishing in an elevator right in front of him. In an effort to get to the bottom of the disappearance, he assembles a group of 'Internet misfits' to solve the mystery.

It's been a long time coming too, as YIIK was originally set to launch in 2015.
