Xboss boss Phil Spencer has hinted that the upcoming Project Scarlett could be a single console, rather than two, which has been rumoured.

In an interview with Business Insider, Spencer said, 'Last year we said consoles, and we've shipped a console and we've now detailed another console. I think that's plural.'

Spencer is referring to his E3 2018 briefing, in which he revealed that Microsoft was working on multiple new consoles. The console that Spencer refers to in the Business Insider interview, which he says has shipped, is the Xbox One S.

'Technically that is plural,' Spencer said, laughing. 'Right now, we're focused on Project Scarlett and what we put on stage.'

It's also worth noting that Spencer doesn't ever refer to Project Scarlett as being one console or multiple, so at the minute it all seems a little intriguing.

In other recent Project Scarlett news, Spencer doesn't know the actual name of the machine, it seems, and the head of Platinum Games isn't all that fussed about it.
