Xbox One will not support 3D Blu-ray playback at launch, Microsoft has revealed.
A Microsoft representative is said to have confirmed the news to CNET, but told the site that the platform holder “hadn’t ruled out adding the feature in the future”.
The Xbox One is the first Xbox to ship with an included Blu-ray player, which allows the console to play back standard Blu-ray discs. Pre-order customers at GAME will also be able to choose from a variety of discounted Blu-ray movies when collecting their console.
3D playback had been supported by PlayStation 3, and though 3D games are supported on PlayStation 4, it isn’t yet clear whether the console will ship with support for 3D movies.
Xbox One launches next Friday, November 22.
