According to Microsoft, their Xbox Live service is growing so fast that a new member is joining every 30 seconds. In just one year Xbox Live members have doubled to 2 million.

Reaching the two million member milestone in such a short time speaks volumes about the depth and vibrancy of the Xbox Live community,” said Robbie Bach, senior vice president of the Home and Entertainment Division and chief Xbox officer at Microsoft. “This enormous growth is a true testament to the compelling content and engaging experiences enabled through Xbox Live today. The service is inspired by the creative power of the individual and fuelled by the passion of a worldwide community.

The Xbox has plenty of games coming which will only increase the number of Live subscribers. At the launch of the Xbox 360, Microsoft is expecting that there should be more than 300 multiplayer games available over the two Xbox systems. Games on the Xbox 360 to look forward to are Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing 3, Call of Duty 2 and Dead or Alive 4. Those not jumping onto the next-gen bandwagon need not worry as the Xbox still has plenty of Xbox live titles on offer. You can look forward to Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

Those who didn’t know will be pleased to hear that your Xbox Live account can be easily transferred from the Xbox to the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 also promises variable service levels so that everyone will be able to take part in Xbox Live. A free Silver membership will give gamers access to the Xbox Live Marketplace, Gamer Profile and messaging. The premium Gold service will unlock a whole manner of features including tournaments and participation in original programs.
