According to Media Create, Japanese hardware sales for the week ending May 5, 2008 indicate that the Xbox 360 has seen a large upturn in fortune. Sales of the severely lagging console were up 34% over the previous week, from 1,283 units to 1,725 units.

However, this still puts the console firmly in last place with lifetime sales in Japan still way below one million at 561,070 units.

The PS3 also saw a slight increase in sales, up from 9,107 to 10,177, bringing life to date sales for the console in Japan to 2,034,523.

The Wii wasn’t to be outdone though, with a 47% increase in Wii sales week-on-week. Sales of 71,518 take the life to date figure for the Wii in Japan to 5,927,072. Similar sales next week will see the console reach the six million milestone.
