World of Warcraft is a massive MMO with a passionate playerbase. Recently, Blizzard has confirmed some deaths will be reversed following a massive DDoS attack, meanwhile, in a recent interview, the developer reflected on dragon riding that “didn’t feel good”. Now it’s been revealed that World of Warcraft is implementing a new feature that copies one of the most popular user-made WoW UI addons.
New World of Warcraft feature copies WeakAuras UI addon
As noted by PCGamer, World of Warcraft is mimicking WeakAuras’ incredibly popular UI addon. Shared by WoWHead, there is a new Cooldown Manager in WoW patch 11.1.5.
This new Cooldown Manager copies some of the most popular cooldown tracking from WeakAuras. Below are the four areas covered by Blizzard’s Cooldown Manager as highlighted by WoWHead:
- Essential Cooldowns
- In this area you will find most of your class cooldowns. For example, as a Shadow Priest, this section tracks both short rotational cooldowns like Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death and longer cooldowns like Dark Ascension and Power Infusion.
- Utility Cooldowns
- Similar to the Essential Cooldowns area, this area deals with utility spells, tracking both short utility spells like Power Word: Shield and Angelic Feather, and longer ones like Dispersion and Desperate Prayer.
- Tracked Buffs
- This section tracks procs your spec has that can change your rotation. In the example, the tracked procs are Deathspeaker, Shadowy Insight, and Unfurling Darkness.
- Tracked Bars
- The final section is different from the other tree, offering bars to closely track the duration of impactful cooldowns. In the example, it tracks Shadowfiend and Entropic Rift.
While Blizzard’s Cooldown Manager is appreciated, it does lack customization compared to WeakAuras. The only customization options for Blizzard’s Cooldown Manager are as follows:
- Orientation – Horizontal or Vertical
- Number of Columns – 1 to 20
- Icon Direction – Left or Right
- Icon Size – 50% to 200%
- Icon Padding – 2 to 10
- Opacity – 50% to 100%
- Visibility – Always Visible, In Combat, Hidden
- Show Timer Toggle
- (Tracked Buffs Only) Hide When Inactive Toggle
- (Tracked Bars Only) Display Mode – Icon and Name, Icon Only, Name Only
In other WoW news, Blizzard has discussed how the game’s longevity isn’t because of legacy, but because of the game’s willingness to evolve.
